i was addicted to almost the same game as warcraft. starcraft, made by the same company . same basic thing, created maps from other players, and original melee matches, 1v1,2v2,3v3,4v4. i would probably still be addicted to the game if i hadnt found another game that was a change from starcraft. and now i dont have a computer so its hard to play it.
if hes anything like i was, removing the game from him, or taking away the computer will not help neither will making them quit the current game(especially warcraft/starcraft) as you get into the game , and your fellow gamers will not be pleased, as i was very upset when people left the game early, as it wrecks the game for everyone else.. it made me a very different person, aggressive, and angry. usually taken out on the person trying to take the computer/game away. i wanted to hit my parents, and anyone who got in the way of my game. thank god i never did though. i wished my parents would have involved me in other things i enjoyed doing, going to see a movie that interested me, or doing other activities they enjoy. my dad took me out for supper, let friends sleep over(sometimes resulted in both of us on the computer) and other things i wanted to do. not everything has to be something you must pay for, but those are the things kids are interested in, because its something u dont do very often. if you dont know what your son/daughter likes to do other then video games, ask them what they would like to do. it may/may not work, im just speaking from my experience as an addicted gamer. if everything you try to do does not work, try asking your son or daughter to teach you how to play, and make it something u can do together on occasions. it will help u to understand your son/daughter in the world they live in. and really, it IS a different world. i hope ive given anyone reading this a little bit of insight into the mind of a teenage gamer. and i hope this information can help you gain a better relationship with you son/daughter and help convince them theres other things u can do for fun, why use all ur time on 1 fun thing, when you can do many? have a variety.
